Biography

Rajnish Khanna, Ph.D. is a strategic biotechnology consultant, plant and soil health scientist applying multidisciplinary approaches for research and development. Known for empowering the industry through strategic partnerships and leveraging advanced technologies to increase product impact, governmental regulatory process and marketing support. Rajnish is a plant photobiologist, interested in how informational light signal is perceived and translated by organisms into biological response. Rajnish obtained his doctorate in Plant Molecular Biology at Purdue University, he is well published. He has served as a lead scientist in biotechnology industry and has worked at the University of California, Berkeley and Carnegie Institution for Science at Stanford University. Rajnish is the founder of TerreLocal application and the consultation company i-Cultiver, Inc.

BIO-TECH, EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

The BEST Internship program is a collaboation between Contra Costa College and I-Cultiver Inc. Created by Dr. Rajnish Khanna and Dr. Katie Krowlikowski, this program is designed to give bio-technology students paid opportunities to increase their eduction by working on real life experiments and product trials. The BEST Program enrolls students three times a year; in Spring, Summer and Fall for respective semesters.

POTENTIAL BIO-TECHNOLOGY STUDENT PROJECTS

Biotechnology Internships may involve one or more of the following:
Fractionate soil, rhizosphere and root samples for microbiome analysis
Microbial DNA extraction and sample preparation for 16S rRNA gene sequencing
Bioinformatics support Plant seedling assays, including plating on nutrient media, growth, imaging, Image J analysis and statistical evaluation Metabolomics, including assay kit- and chromatography -based element quantification Scale growth of microbial communities for applications in agriculture Remote Sensing technologies (training will be included) Science Communication Internships may involve one or more of the following:

Public communication and content development Public education and promotion of scientific awareness through social media and online articles
